About Bluebird Sky Therapy

Bluebird Sky Therapy was founded with a simple mission: to provide compassionate, individualized, and evidence-based speech-language services that help clients of all ages communicate with confidence and live more meaningful lives. Serving families and individuals across Denver, we support both children and adults through personalized care that honors each person’s unique strengths, goals, and story.

Bluebird Sky Therapy was established in 2024 by Emily Wolkenberg, MA, CCC-SLP, a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist with a diverse and deeply rooted professional background. Emily has supported individuals at every stage of life, from early childhood through advanced adulthood, bringing depth of experience and genuine compassion to each therapeutic partnership.

Emily earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and English from Indiana University in 2004 and spent eleven years in social work and education as an intervention counselor, case manager, special education teacher, and group home supervisor. She later earned a Master's in Special Education from Salem State University and a Master's in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2020, launching her career as an SLP during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Her early work in acute care hospitals focused on patients with swallow, cognitive, and communication disorders due to conditions such as dysphagia, stroke, Parkinson’s, traumatic brain injury, tracheostomy, and head and neck cancer. This experience laid the foundation for her later home health work, helping adults recovering from hospitalization and rehab. Since relocating to Colorado in 2023, Emily has worked in pediatric home health, supporting children with speech and language delays, articulation, pragmatic/social skills, and overall communication.

Guided by the belief that “the meaning of life is to live a life of meaning,” Emily views speech therapy not simply as a profession, but as her calling—opening doors that might otherwise remain closed and helping each client build the skills and confidence to fully participate in the world around them.
